Recently our pastor, Danny, has put out a challenge to Reliance and it is called the 3-2-1 challenge. The challenge is to bless 3 people, invite 2 people to church and pray with one person each week, each day or however God leads. I pray God is leading you to do some part, or all parts of this challenge. I pray for Reliance church. I pray each and every person affiliated with Reliance can make an impact on the people around you. God didn't call us to be different people at work and then different people around our"church family" or church community. God wants us to be the same every where we go and that is on mission for him. Our pastor also said something else worth quoting. "Jesus owned your sins, do you own His mission?" I thought that was a pretty good quote. Do we own his mission ? That mission is like the 3-2-1 challenge but so much more. If we get caught up in our own problems and in the beauty and world around us then we are missing the mark. It's not about you, it isn't about me.... We are on mission for HIM. My prayer for Reliance.....
That you would be stripped of selfishness,and inwardness so that we are not focusing on ourselves... That with God's help and through him you can live in humility, tolerance and love towards one another standing on his word and living it out in obedience on the narrow path that leads to life everlasting. That each one of us will have the strength to live courageously through him, not of ourselves but with his strength leaning on him for everything and trusting that with his help we can bless others, we can invite others and we can pray with others because we are living His life and on His mission in our immediate environment, around all the people that we come in contact with and we are not ashamed, but full of passion for him and HIS Mission.... What is his mission.... Going out into the highways and byways and leading others to him..... so they too can experience him and have Life everlasting....... a promise for all who come to him and follow him.... When sorrows like sea billows roll; Whatever my lot, Thou hast taught me to say, It is well, it is well with my soul It is well with my soul, It is well, it is well with my soul..... John chapter 6:16 begins the story of the disciples being in a boat in a great storm and as they are frightened and scared, Jesus is there and calms the storm. A good reminder is that Jesus is in your life to calm your storm, all you have to do is trust him, ask him and seek him and his peace. Just as the author penned above, sometimes we have to seek peace in our storm and be ok with it. Have you ever heard the saying, "it is what it is"? Sometimes we must put our faith into practice and just stand firm in the storm, trust and know that he is with us and claim "it is well with my soul". |
